For arlanix/product-feed 1.0
Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat and Microsoft
Each of these platforms reads a product feed from a file it fetches on a schedule, in the same shape Google Merchant Center reads: a CSV or TSV with one column per field, or an RSS 2.0 file with Google's g: namespace. Arlanix Product Feed knows each platform's specification as a feed type, and a feed of that type starts with every required field already mapped.
The steps are those of your first feed, with a different type:
- In General, set Type to the platform: Meta Catalog, Tiktok Catalog, Pinterest Catalog, Snapchat Catalog or Microsoft Shopping. Leave Channel on File.
- In Mapping, choose the type's catalog under Copy from and press Copy. The required fields arrive mapped: the SKU, the name, the description without its HTML, the product and image URLs, the stock status in the platform's words and the price with its currency. Map brand to your brand attribute: the catalog cannot know which one it is, and Meta, TikTok and Snapchat refuse a product without one. A shop that makes its own products uses its own name: see the own brand recipe.
- In Channel, pick the format the platform's upload screen asks for. All five read CSV; XML is the Google RSS shape, which Meta, TikTok, Pinterest and Microsoft accept as well.
- Save, run the feed once and copy the File URL from the Channel section into the platform's upload screen as a scheduled fetch.
The platforms' own words for availability are written with spaces, in stock, and the copied mapping translates Magento's stock status through the Availability (space-separated) dictionary. Gender, age group and condition use the same dictionaries as the Google feed; the Google category comes from the feed's Google categories section.
Meta Commerce Manager
Facebook and Instagram shops and catalogue ads. Upload under Commerce Manager → Catalogue → Data sources → Add items → Data feed → Scheduled feed. Meta reads the file at least daily and allows an hourly schedule. Titles are cut at 200 characters, 65 is what fits in an ad; descriptions at 9,999, without HTML; a product that is out of stock is kept in the shop for a while, marked sold out, and left out of ads.
TikTok
Shopping ads and TikTok Shop. Upload under TikTok Ads Manager → Assets → Catalogues → Add products → Data feed schedule. The item id column is called sku_id, and the catalog maps it to the SKU. TikTok publishes no length limits beyond the custom labels, so nothing is truncated on the way; a video_link in 9:16 is worth mapping when the products have one.
A retail catalog, read from a hosted data source under Pinterest Business → Catalogues → Add data source. Pinterest reads the file daily, from an http:// or https:// address or an SFTP server. Images are tall, 1,000 by 1,500 pixels recommended; titles may run to 500 characters and descriptions to 10,000; the colour, material, pattern and size fields hold 30. The adult flag is true or false, which the True / False dictionary writes.
Snapchat
A product catalog for Dynamic Ads, uploaded under Snapchat Ads Manager → Assets → Catalogs → New Catalog → Data feed. Of brand, GTIN and MPN one is required; the catalog marks brand required, because every catalogue has one. Titles hold 375 characters but an ad shows about 40, so a short title attribute is a better source than the full name; descriptions hold 5,000.
Microsoft Merchant Center
Bing Shopping. Upload under Microsoft Advertising → Tools → Merchant Center → Feeds → Create feed, as a scheduled fetch. Microsoft reads a Google file as it is, so a feed of the Google Shopping type may be given to it too; the Microsoft Shopping type is for a feed written to Microsoft's own specification, where the Google taxonomy field is called product_category, availability and condition default to in stock and new when left out, and the shipping field is required for Austria and Germany only. Prices in the United Kingdom include VAT.
